Day 2

So after sleeping on it and thinking about the scene while watching my son all day today.  I'm going to scale down the hangar a bit and I'm also thinking about ditching the lower bay doors.  I have plenty of assets so at this point I'm going to move some stuff around or just draw a schematic.

either way, here's the wip shots I have stopped at until I decide what size and layout i want to go with.

On a second note, I suppose I might as well plan a small story to be told whilst making a new layout.

Day 1 - Last update

Made a few more modular pieces, nothing is UV'd.  Just simple lightmaps for UE4 to work with.

It's a start, and at this rate, if all goes well and nothing catastrophic happens I should have a decent scene by the end of the week.

once the scene is done, i'll begin working on the center piece, which is the ship.

ohhh, the floor below the fighter ship, it opens just fine.

goodnight

Some progress

Why my last post had horrible grammar, i don't know, but here's some progress.

The ship is from game jam, it's placeholder for now.   Once i get the environment textured then i'll begin working on the craft.   I'm going to model a few more things, then i'll make a quick lighting pass.

ohh, and this wip shot is in UE4.

Floating fortress - Hangar Bay

I came across Stuart Kim's website and couldn't but get inspired.
This concept (Repair Dock) really caught my eye.

I really like the belly of the ship docking bay, I also wanted to make a vehicle, but wanted a scene to put it in.
After grabbing some pics off of Google images, I made a collage things i like. I'm starting to lean further away from making environments directly from concept.

Once it's all blocked out today, I should have a lighting, but it'll mostly be suggestive.  Hopefully by Monday I can start texturing.
